What I’m Reading: Annie Duke

Annie Duke, author of Thinking in Bets, shares three books she can't wait to recommend.

Annie Duke | What I'm Reading

Poker-champion-turned-business-consultant Annie Duke, the author of Thinking in Bets, sat down with us recently to talk about our favorite thing—books!

In Thinking in Bets, Duke uses examples from poker to politics that illustrate how we make decisions when we don’t have all the information. Even the best decisions don’t yield the best outcomes every time, so the key is to think of each choice like a bet: What decision has the highest odds of success? Duke demonstrates that by shifting your goal from certainty to accurately assessing what you know and what you don’t, you’ll be more confident, calm, compassionate and successful in the long run.

Duke sat down with us to talk a little bit about books she’s been reading lately: books that take a deep dive into human cognition, tell beautiful and heartbreaking stories, and help readers understand biases and echo chambers in the modern world.
