Between the World and Me and Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore
June 18, 2018 - Co-hosts Abbe and Emma talk about their favorite reads about female friendship and offer up some Read-Alikes for the fabulous Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore.
In the third episode of the Read it Forward podcast, co-hosts and Read it Forward editors Abbe and Emma tell listeners about the books they’re currently reading. In this segment, Abbe had just started reading this fabulous novel The Ensemble and, in a total memory fail, forgets the author’s name, has to look it up and then mispronounces it (facepalm so hard). After recording this episode, Abbe went on to finish (and love) the book, interview the author and now recommends to book to everyone she meets. (Sorry for the flub, Aja!) Emma discusses reading multiple books at a time on her Kindle and finally finishing one!
Later, IRL friends Emma and Abbe talk about their favorite books that center on female friendship—and they manage to mention quite a few they read, loved and shared with other friends.
In the third segment, friend of the pod, Books for Better Living editor Ta-Tanisha Williams swings by the studio to tell listeners about a book a life-changing book she thinks you need to read.
This book is a must-read that, ultimately, changed my views on race.
Finally, Abbe and Emma offer up some Read-Alikes for the fabulous Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. These Read-Alikes are the perfect thing for readers looking for other reads set in bookstores, or for books that contain an underlying conspiracy.
See below for the books mentioned during this episode and don’t forget to leave a review on Apple podcasts!
I'd like updates on books, giveaways, special promotions, and more from Read It Forward and from Penguin Random House.
