What I’m Reading: Melissa Broder

Melissa Broder, author of The Pisces, shares three striking books about longing and loss that have influenced her as a writer.

Melissa Broder, author of the essay collection So Sad Today and four poetry collections including Last Sext, made her way into the world of fiction with her sexy debut novel, The Pisces. It’s a tale of love, lust, the meaning of life, and how they all impact one another.

The story centers on Lucy—a woman in her 30s whose life turns upside down after a breakup with her long-term boyfriend. As Lucy searches for something to fill the void in her heart, an attractive swimmer makes his way into her life, causing everything to take an unexpected, fishy turn.
