The Help
Kathryn Stockett
There’s a good chance that many of you have already read The Help, but just in case it has slipped by your radar, or if you’ve only seen the movie, it’s definitely worth picking up. Because as much as Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, and Emma Stone made it a wonderful movie, the book is always better.
Even though I didn’t grow up there, and have only visited sporadically, I still find myself completely transported by books that are set in the American South. I tend to choose ones that have characters with strong personalities that won’t be easily forgotten.
My recommendation is to enjoy any one of these books on a porch with a cold glass of sweet tea. I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon.
