The Silent Corner
Dean Koontz
I have been a long-time reader of Dean, so I always look forward to reading what he has written next. I met him years ago, and he was such a dear.
I have always been a voracious reader and my to-be-read list is full of books from every genre. Here is a glimpse into some of the books on my summer reading list, including books that I’ve heard so much buzz about as well as tried & true favorites. My new book, Wired, was published on July 4 and the inspiration behind this story all started with an almost-successful credit card scam. I visualized my heroine, Allison, watching a news clip on television about hackers stealing from nursing homes, wiping out the funds of all the elderly residents. Irritated by the authorities’ lackadaisical attitude, she decides to take action and not only help the victims but also show the hackers what it feels like to be hacked themselves. Of course, to do this, Allison has to be remarkably talented when it comes to computers—and she definitely is. In fact, most people who know her would say she’s “wired” differently.
I had the first scene, and from that, I knew the whole story. So, where does her genius take her? In comes Liam Scott. No one appreciates her abilities more than Liam, a special agent for the FBI, who needs her skills for a special case. It doesn’t take him long, however, to learn that there is far more to Allison than a brilliant mind. As their relationship took shape, so did the plot of the book. And the result was Wired. Pick up my book as your summer read, or click on the covers above to read my thoughts on the novels I’ll be diving into!
