2019 Book Horoscopes: The Ambitious Leo

It's going to be a year for the books—starting here.

By Brittany Goss • 2 years ago

Leo, 2019 is bound to be fun for you, with Jupiter in Sagittarius lighting up your house of romance, creativity, and children. Start your year off with designer Adam Kurtz’s little book of life advice for creatives, Things Are What You Make of Them. You could get some great ideas from history, or even your personal history of relationships with others. Get inspired this January with Finding Dorothy, Elizabeth Letts’s novel based on the story behind The Wizard of Oz. Then again, perhaps fantasy is more your style. Black Leopard, Red Wolf, the first book in Marlon James’s Dark Star Trilogy, is likely to get the creative juices flowing.

On January 21, a total lunar eclipse in your sign brings the end of an eventful cycle in your self-development and relationships with others. It’s your cosmic gift to shine and show others how they can shine, too. Inheritance, Dani Shapiro’s memoir about coming to terms with a family secret about her biological father, will have you thinking about what makes us who we are. At the end of February, you’ll start a longer cycle of healing yourself and others by sharing what you’ve learned. Burn After Writing, a journal for the social media age, can help you figure out which healing insights you want to share and which personal stories you want to lock in the vault. In March, you’ll start to let out your wild side in public even more. This is a seven-year cycle of following your true vocation and leaving a unique legacy. Get some risky ideas from The Third Door, Alex Banayan’s story of tracking down the world’s most successful people to find out how they got there.

This summer, especially in July, your attention will turn to creating daily rituals that renew and inspire you. Take a break to read The Book of Help, Megan Griswold’s memoir-in-remedies. Fall brings more creative energy, and some time at home with family as well. Julia Glass’s novel Three Junes will be a good one to curl up with during November’s Mercury retrograde. On December 2, Jupiter moves into Capricorn, setting you up for a successful year at work in 2020. Luckily, you have a full year of fun before the hard work starts. Enjoy it!
