Bookshelf“I recently moved into an apartment with built-in bookshelves – best feature of the apartment and the main reason I moved in,” says Laural. “This is the bookshelf in my bedroom and one of three in the apartment. I’m going to miss these bookshelves when I move! My books are not necessarily in any order but most of these are ones I haven’t read yet. I keep the books I think I will read again or that have sentimental value; I give the rest away for someone else to enjoy.”

These two runners-up (also selected at random from among hundreds of entries) will receive 10 Read It Forward books of their choice.

Bookshelf“My bookshelves are representative of everything in my life, from memorabilia to childhood remnants,” says RIFer Stephanie M. “My books mean so much to me because, just like those childhood remnants, they have made me who I am and will probably guide who I become.”

Bookshelf“One can never have too many books!” says RIFer Ashley F.

Note: I use the name “techeditor” online, but I am the person who just posted the review of ANIMAL WISE that you liked.

I’m glad for the winners of the bookshelf contest. However, please allow me to pout. It would have been so nice to tell my husband, who built my bookcase, that I won. I wouldn’t have told him that it was a random drawing.

  • cindy

Congratulations to the winners. I know it was random but I wish someone who didn’t have a packed bookshelf would have won. If you’re bookshelf is packed you must not be reading it forward.

  • April

    Congrats to the winners!

To Cindy, who said, “If you’re bookshelf is packed you must not be reading it forward.”

Not true. I didn’t win, but I am one of those who has many books in my bookcase. That’s because I haven’t read all of them yet or because I’ve been collecting books for many years.

I give away more than half of the books I read, probably 3/4.

  • techeditor

Question: if I already sent you a picture of my bookshelf for the contest that just ended, do I need to send another for the current contest?

  • Kira, editor at Read It Forward

Good question, techeditor. You don’t need to share another photo if you’ve already sent one to us! Thank you for asking.

  • Laural

I happen to be the grand prize winner of this contest and I was thrilled to learn that I’d won! To respond to cindy, most of the books on my bookshelf are ones that I haven’t read yet, between my friends and family and books that I buy myself I acquire them faster than I can read them. Once I read them — or if I find that I’ve acquired books that I will likely never get around to reading anytime soon — I pass them along. For the 25 books that I just won, I worked with family and friends to come up with the list of books we are all going to enjoy.

Laural!!! Thanks so much for dropping by. We can’t wait to get a photo of you with your new shelf – and once you have a chance to read, book reviews from you, your family and friends. How fun that you picked your books that way!
