water-for-elephants-coverAnna’s Read It Forward book is Sara Gruen’s Water for Elephants. “I took it on a family trip to the beach and immediately fell in love with the story. I finished it in less in two days and gave it to my mom and said ‘You have to read this book!’ She turned around and read it in two days and absolutely loved it. We both left the beach with a happy, healthy tan and a new favorite book!”

Sara Gruen’s Water for Elephants has become one of the most beloved and bestselling novels of our time. Readers fell in love with Water for Elephants and its story of Jacob, a young man tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth, and Rosie, the untrainable elephant. This instant #1 New York Times bestseller is now available in 44 languages and has over 3 million copies in print worldwide. Sara Gruen’s most recent book is Ape House, which features the amazing Bonobo ape. When a number of apes are kidnapped from a language laboratory, their mysterious appearance on a reality TV show calls into question our assumptions about these animals who share 99.4% of our DNA. Her runaway bestseller Water for Elephants is available wherever books are sold.

My family always shares books at the beach too! One year I think every mom and female cousin read THE PILOT’S WIFE by Anita Shreve.

Because I teach high school English, I am constantly sharing books with my students. I try to do booktalks for them as often as possible and absolutely love it when they tell me they love the same book I do. Sometimes we interrupt class to have a book discussion in front of everyone. The books I share with my kids tend to be the ones they enjoy the most. In Cold Blood (an oldie but goodie) is probably my most worn out book, but I have a feeling The Hunger Games won’t be too far behind soon.
